I am Claudia Forero and I was born and brought up in Bogota in Colombia until 1998 when I moved to live in the UK.
With over 20 years experience in both Colombia and the UK as a professional journalist, author and teacher of Castellano (Spanish) I now offer a range of services as described below but which can be summarised as:
After graduation in Colombia I worked as a journalist commenting on and working on cultural development, agricultural and environmental topics before moving to the UK in 1998.
Along with other writers I co-authored a book on Colombian Industrial History published by Consuelo Mendoza Publishers.
I also worked in public relations working with emerging painters, sculptors, poets, authors and actors as well as organising cultural conferences, mainly in the private sector.
I acted as Press Coordinator for UNICEF Colombia as well as working in other press offices and functions particularly for governmental institutions.
In the 15 years since moving to England I have been engaged as a freelance or full time journalist with different Latin American publications and have also written two books about Latin Americans living and working in the UK.
I am an interpreter and translator working as required in both the public and private sectors.
I am a very experienced Spanish teacher working in and with a wide range of institutions in both the public sector and in the private sector including major clearing banks.
I also teach in Schools, Further Education Colleges and Adult Education Centres as well as teaching individual students working for particular qualifications and examinations.
Depending on the requirements of the institution and the individual students I can offer either general language training or specialist training such as Business Spanish or Cross-cultural communication.
I also have extensive research experience – both desk and telephone research and field research - including the use of questionnaires and discussion groups, mainly related to the Latin American community.
I am a member of both the NUJ and the IFL.
